Hereditary is one of my favorite horror movies, and it’s 10/10 a must watch for me during the spooky season! Although it is a pretty gruesome movie, the color palette of the film is (I think) beautiful and perfect for an autumnal colorway! If the movie is too scary for you then I hope you can enjoy this colorway instead 😆!

Kingyo Sukui is inspired by the traditional Japanese matsuri game of the same name!  In this traditional game, there’s usually a small pool of goldfish, and the aim is to scoop as many of them as you can into your own bowl using a paper scooper (or a “poi”) until your scooper breaks apart! This colorway is reminiscent of a pool of cute speckled goldfish, just ready to be scooped!

Have you ever noticed the light that filters through tree leaves? The Japanese word "Komorebi" has no direct English translation, and is a word that describes the sunlight that plays between leaves as it shines over trees. I created this colorway to illustrate a word that's hard to describe - bright and musky tree leaf greens with interplays of sunshine yellow.

For this colorway, I was inspired by the contrast between the flowery, happy colors that fill the entire film and the horrible events that occur during the cult’s midsummer celebration. I didn’t want to make the colorway too bright, since it’s based off of a horror movie, but wanted to incorporate colors that look flowery at first glance, but can be seen as subtly sinister (if that makes sense?)! I went a little bit out of my comfort zone when creating this colorway, so I hope you get the flowery-with-a-sinister-twist vibe that I was going for!
